Pediatric Urology
Ref. # 54048

An Ohio newborn was diagnosed with left-sided testicular torsion and right-sided hydrocele. An orchiectomy was performed but the hydrocele was not explored. Two months later the infant required a right-sided inguinal hernia repair and transcrotal orchidopexy for an incarcerated inguinal hernia. A medQuest pediatric urologist reported that standard of care required the hydrocele to have been repaired initially or, at the very least, the parents should have been directed to monitor the infant and report any changes in his condition immediately.
