Registered Nurse (Critical Care), Anesthesiology
Ref. # 79458
A 46 year old Pennsylvania woman underwent a colonoscopy. In the recovery room she had an apparent reaction to anesthesia. The attorney claimed she was not monitored closely and suffered a period of hypoxia which resulted in brain damage. A medQuest critical care nurse indicated there was a period when the patient lacked oxygen and that close monitoring was required. A medQuest anesthesiologist reported the patient required reintubation, which would have prevented the hypoxic episode.
